Info and background stories of our current exhibition

OSCAM x Urban Myth x Amsterdam Museum present Hollandse Meesters Her-Zien

OSCAM welcomes a familiar exhibition again. In collaboration with curator Jörgen Tjon a Fong of Urban Myth, OSCAM was the first location in 2018 to show the traveling exhibition Hollandse Meesters Her-zien, in which contemporary Dutch celebrities give a face to historical Dutchmen of color from the 17th and 18th centuries.

In 2019, Jörgen and the Amsterdam Museum joined forces for a spectacular presentation of Hollandse Meesters Her-Zien in the Amsterdam Museum-wing of the Hermitage. The exhibition creates a more realistic picture of the colorful country that the Netherlands already was at the time, and exposes stories from our history that are unlikely to be heard. The Masterpieces, which have also been exhibited in the Rijksmuseum, Internationaal Theater Amsterdam, Museum van Loon and the Hortus Botanicus, have now returned to OSCAM.

The exhibition was opened by Jörgen Tjon a Fong and Margriet Schavemaker (Artistic Director Amsterdam Museum) during Keti Koti 2021.
